No New Posts America Plaza Trolley Station

What a sight! It looks so fancy, no? Well, watch out. Human and feline gangs alike hang out here. The Cobalts and the Vermilions use the trolley here as one of their favorite modes of transportation (they get on it via the stairs, mostly at night when there's less people), and Human officials are often baffled by the amount of dead cat bodies that keep appearing on the side of the Trolley's tracks monthly—pushed off during a feud gangfight on the Trolley's roof.
Unique to Downtown, the cats here have taken to riding on the roofs of buses as well. This is city life, baby!
Everyone's too preoccupied with their own lives to notice some stupid furball using some unlucky dude's bike attached to the bus to clamber their way up to the bus's top, and then back down again.

If a cat can somehow manage their way in miraculously without being seen, they could actually live within the massive amounts of foliage the Zoo is filled with.
Do not go into the animal habitats. Some of the creatures here would quite literally eat you alive... and what's more, they're not sentient like you are, thus they are not able to listen to reason. Be wary!
The Zoo is very close by to Balboa Park.

No New Posts Abandoned Building (Esposito Base)

This nine-story, abandoned building is the Esposito family headquarters. The Boss and his/her Heir/Heiress live at the very top story. Bodyguards are right beneath them, with servants several stories lower. The lowest levels, the basements, are crumbling in some places, and this is where the stolen kittens are kept. The empty building's inside-parking lot is where they are trained.

Vermilions don't even try to conceal themselves. If they see you, they chase you down until you're dead. They live near the ocean, by the Bluebridge, where the sailships and seabreeze are imbedded into their very souls, it seems. Untameable.

No New Posts Gaslamp Quarter

A 16-block national historic district with a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as an eyeful of Victorian architecture. There are lots of street people here; groups of young Human adults apparently 'barhopping' (whatever that is), Human mollies walking around in bikinis and stilettos and generally making fools of themselves.
Like many Human hubs of activity, you can find scraps here to feed on... but don't bring your kittens here, you'll have a hard enough time trying to not let yourself get stepped on!

It's possible for a cat to live here if said cat doesn't mind all the tourists and twittering newlyweds. If you go down by the rocks, don't slip into the saltwater! As beautiful as they look, those waves can easily overpower any feline, even the strongest of swimmers.

Ah, yes, the wonderful, distinctive bridge which connects Downtown to the Island. It's enough to incite memories in anyone—good or bad. Try not to fall off into the seemingly bottomless waters below... or get hit by a car. No, worse! A bus five times the size of that!

No New Posts Hotel Del Coronado

The famous, prestigious hotel. Some, cats and Humans alike, call it haunted by the ghost of Kate Morgan, the girl whom killed herself waiting for her love to return from the sea... and never did. Can you manage to snag a luxurious hideout in its walls or outside areas without being found by a Human?

No New Posts The Beach

Directly attached to the Hotel, there are also large rocks and sandhills to slink your way through in order to avoid being spotted by twoleggeds.
If one wishes to enjoy the beauty of the waters and splash within their waves, it's probably best to wait until nightfall or early morning before arriving.
And don't be too bothered by the jets and planes passing overhead; there is a Human airbase quite literally right by the beach, and they have skilled pilots, it's unlikely they'll ever crash on your head... most likely.
Try not to encourage your kittens to go too deep into the water to chase after those funny-looking dots in the distance, they're just ships and boats... and you never know what sort of dangers may lurk in those depths.
Note: avoid the dogbeach close by like the plague, whatever you do.

Stores, restaurants, parks and the like can be ventured through here, but be extremely cautious. Coronado Island is a bustling place at all times, even at night. Tourists and native inhabitants are everywhere. You'd be better off in the quieter neighborhood.
The food people drop and leave to waste (what a pity...) can be extremely delicious, though...

No New Posts The Neighborhood

The houses of Coronado Island are fairly old and/or fancy-looking, and many cats get the impression of their inhabitants being more than a bit well-off and hoity-toity. None brag more about it than the domestics living there. The grasses are green, the flowers always blooming, trees lush with leaves nearly at all times... is anything wrong here?
Yes, in fact. The local 'gang' of troublemakers, which are, in fact, nothing more than just a bunch of rowdy, aristocratic outdoor-domestic cats looking for some excitement at the expense of others.
There are also some houses that are kept merely for display by the Humans for the sake of being Victorian-esque and historic. No Humans live in these buildings—but can you break your way in without setting off any alarms?

Are you crazy?! You can't possibly be considering going in here, a place filled with flying contraptions that look like they'll crash any minute! And the runway... oh my, you'll be squashed! Are you stealthy enough to maneuver your way around this cold, concrete area?

No New Posts Casa De Balboa

The large well-stocked fish-filled pond here, complete with turtles, lilypads and frogs, is a buffet for the Balboa Park Colony, and is regularly fished in. The giant goldfish here are delicious! And it's not too hard to pad through the shadowy corridors of the Casa, or climb its bumpy walls to reach the roof, without being noticed by Humans visiting the attraction. Cats from all around call Balboa a haven, and they may just be right.

A complex network of underground natural tunnels are operated by the Balboa Colony gaurds and frequented by the Colony's leaders themselves and normal members whom wish to have a word with them for whatever reason.
It is surrounded by a short metal fence that one must clamber over if they wish to get near the main tunnel entrance, hidden beneath the most tangled clump of roots.

There is a flimsy part of the metal bars the Building is made of, that an adult cat can easily push aside and enter. The Botanical Building (or the BB, as the Balboan cats call it for short) is used for Colony-wide meetings held by its leaders. The BB is literally right next to the Lilypond.

The Park's main attraction, it's not really the best place to drink from despite having less chlorine within it than the other fountains. It's large and splashable, thus Human kittens play in it all day, making cats feel hesitant about drinking from it after all that, even after nightfall.
Thus, it's mainly used as a more thorough way to wash yourself or your kittens, or to play in. Scheduled fishing lessons occur here, too, for adolescents.
Only come here after nightfall, when the Park is closed!

The Balboan Cats aren't the only 'colony' that's ever been here... this little garden used to be a center for nudist Humans. Thank your fur it's no longer that way! Humans look so strange without their clothing.
The mature trees are pleasant to snooze on, with squirrels and rabbits in abundance. Humans don't often bother to think of coming down here, so don't fret much about being chased off.
The butterflies are fun to chase around, no matter what ones' age is. You can go deeper into the more seedy part of the garden, where weeds and yellowed grass never seem to die... homeless Humans lurk there, as well as the more unsavory members of the Colony, allowed to hang out there so long as they swear complete peaceful acts towards the Colony (or else have their claws ripped out of their sockets).

Balboan felines of Oriental descent may feel a strange pull to reside here, in the Japanese Friendship Garden. It's quite pretty to look at and there are many rocks to sun oneself on during the day. There are even koi to eat!
The rock garden might prick your pawpads, though.

A very wide-open place, the Shady Arbor is perfect to live on. Yes, live "on". A feline can hook their claws into the vines that encircle the pillars and live in the thick foliage growing on top of the Arbor, without ever being seen by anything remotely twolegged! It's one of the queens' favorite areas, with the rosebushes making wonderful scenery.
Devoted fathers can visit their kittens on the shady benches underneath the Arbor.
The fountain can be drunk from, but as it also contains chlorine like most of the bodies of water in the Park (in fact, the only real safe place to drink from is the Lilypond), the same cautions apply.

Near the Rose Garden and next to Park Boulevard (basically, across the street from Balboa, and you'd have more luck getting there without getting hit by a car by crossing the bridge that goes over the road) rests a peculiar garden which houses many drought-resistant plants.
There are many wide, hidden dens underneath the cacti plants just begging for a cat to make one of them its permanent residence.
Despite not being in the actual Park itself, it is considered Balboa Colony territory.

An ideal place for hunting squirrels and other small prey, as well as common birds. Not many Humans come down this trail, save for a stubborn few that don't seem to want to realize there's not really much interesting to do, here... unless you're feline.
This is also a nice place to let kittens roam freely within. There's not much to fear here. The Large Staircase is also useful for elder cats to stretch their legs walking on.

No New Posts Cabrillo Bridge

Once, in the past, a former leader of the Balboa Colony lost his mind from grief over losing his mate and kittens, and offed himself by jumping off this bridge. As a result, to this day the bridge is treated as a bringer of bad luck, highly avoided by the more superstitious members of the Colony.
Some call it haunted by that former Colony patriarch. Rambunctious teenagers travel here at the darkest hours of the night, trying to prove themselves in a dare. Some say it's nothing, while others come back terribly spooked...

No New Posts Lemon Grove Trolley Station

It's possible to climb onto the roof of the ticket building (via the trees behind it) and use it as a way to jump onto the Trolley's roof, but as the building itself isn't that big, a cat must be extremely careful about not being seen by the Humans getting off and on the Trolley, or even just passing by.

This place is always full of Humans and cars, no matter the time of day or night. It's active, and believe a local when they tell you there's rubbish to dig through everywhere. Fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Carl's Junior, Del Pueblo), Food4Less, Blockbuster, Farmers' Market, hair salons, Mexican food hangouts, 99Cent Store... it's hard to move around this place without being seen or get in a Human's way underfoot, and only the most adaptable and innovative feline minds can possibly find an even somewhat stable life here.

The main home of the Berry Street Park Colony, this wide grassy park has a scramble of trees to one side, a large double-playground in the center, with benches and barbecues scattered around. Unlike with the Lemon Grove Trolley Station, it is much easier to sneak atop a Trolley here. All you have to do is climb the tree and jump onto the roof of the overhang (which is connected to the benches, which are then connected to the ticket machines)...
In order to get here, you must trek down a gruelingly long, sloping hill with idiotic Human drivers going up and down the hill's road this way and that. In fact, Berry Street Park itself can be found at the very top of this hill.
This station is generally quiet, only really hustling-and-bustling during the morning and noon hours. Cats often pass by here without much a problem—but so do dogs, raccoons, and coyotes, which would cause a problem.
The Trolley here always passes through a tunnel and under a lowbridge, so all I can tell you is to watch your ass and either flatten yourself against the Trolley or get the hell off of the Trolley in time, or else you'll get a snapped neck.

La Mesa

No New Posts Grossmont Shopping Center

In this outdoor mall, there are many flowerbushes for a molly to hide her kittens in provided they keep quiet, or for a lone cat (possibly with one companion or two) to sleep the day away within if the Human children that often poke around in the flowers don't find them first.
There's a good petshop that houses both felines and canines, and this can be both a good and a bad thing. During Christmastime there is a ridiculously giant tree placed in the center of the mall, and if you're a skilled enough climber you could rest in it (or underneath it) during the night, when no Humans are watching. Metal benches are everywhere, places to recuperate in solitude, even if they do feel a bit hard for ones' back.
The fountains can be drunk from, though not too much; they have chlorine.

The Spring Street Trolley Station. At the precise intersection of Spring Street and La Mesa Boulevard, exactly at the crossroads of the downtown village area. The trolley tracks run parallel to Spring Street, so during rush hour, cross traffic can get congested due to the trolley stopping. Try not to get caught in that mess if you can, and the big red Trolley itself can kill you if you don't get out of the way fast enough.
There's also an Antiques Row, but it's... well, rather full of Humans at nearly all times, so even if you want to sniff around for fallen food... you'd be a fool to go in too close to the restaurants.

When there are no Humans, the playground here is charming for your kittens to romp around on—and maybe even yourself, if you're feeling playful. Benches exist if you just want to snooze. There are several mature shade trees to keep a cat cool during a humid day.
But beware for stray dogs wandering the area!

Unfortunately, there's no real way you're getting on top of that Trolley, not unless you have magical jumping abilities... which you do not. Besides, there's no cover from Humans. All you can hope for is to sneak some of this center's shade when there aren't any Humans around.
You can get here via stairs from the Grossmont Shopping Center, but the stairs are made of crickety old wood and give both Humans and cats an uneasy feeling when using them.
What are the odds of them ever collapsing under ones' feed? Low. But that doesn't mean it won't happen someday.
You can make the small steep hills that the Trolley's line cuts through your home, though. No cats, or dogs even, have seemed to claim it yet. They're just about big enough for a clutter of cats.

Sometimes the trash scattered around this outdoor mall place, especially in the Food Pavilion, can prove useful, even if only for a snack. A cat may find themselves getting a bit overwhelmed by all the "fashionable, fun" Human stores and other things. There seems to be something stylish around every corner that ones' eyes might become glued to.
Don't become too distracted, for the adjacent 'doggie-park' could indeed spell trouble. The fountains are an interesting way to cool off on a particularly hot day, just don't come around when they're crawling with splashing Human children.

A cat can easily fish here if they have any idea how, as the Humans keep it regularly stocked with fish year-round. Perhaps if the Humans aren't paying attention, you can swipe some food from their picnic baskets.
There are also many different trails, so it is possible to make a part of it your temporary home with a decent way of finding your way around (the water creates moisture in the air, thus washing away scents fairly quickly, even in the California heat, so no permanent territory markers can be made), but this is discouraged by many local felines because of the amount of Human hikers.

Over 11,000 acres of land designed for the protection and enhancement of multiple species present on the ranch... this is a goldmine for catching real prey! Any cat in their right mind would at least pass by here if they are feeling tired of scavenging for trashed Human food and the like.
Plus, it's a natural litterbox, so no Humans will chase you off for 'going' wherever you want! Better yet, Humans don't even allow themselves in here—what morons!
Can you get a piece of stable territory here? Ha! You'll have to challenge the small clutters and even the few clowders already there, first, and keep a close eye out for potentially dangerous wild animals.

There isn't actually much to do here besides possibly fall in, and you aren't likely to catch the endangered species of birds (i.e. the Bells' vireo) and other things here, either. It does make a handy place to meet up when it's devoid of Humans, however. Say, a joining up of two clowders into a wannabe colony?
Not only that, but it's also a convenient place to dump a body when you just don't want to look at it anymore, the nasty thing! You'd have to be pretty cold to do that to the Humans; would you like it if your watersource was poisoned by a dead carcass?
Or... maybe you just don't care?

This is an indoor mall. It's unlikely you're ever getting in here. However, one restaurant called Rubios has surprisingly cat-friendly employees, and when its outside patio is deserted, you may just find yourself with a good bowl of cooking leftovers and water, or even actual soft catfood if the manager can get her hands on it. Stray cats, sentient and simple alike gather there at the late hours to chow.
Just make sure security doesn't find you, or else Rubios will be found out for 'wasting meals meant for customers.'

A wondrous place for cats to live wild. Green grasses and plump prey frolic, and so do cats (despite the number of hikers). There is the occasional skirmish over land, but mostly life is rather tranquil. The water is clean and fresh, with small fish here and there.

This piece of nature probably has the most rocks and boulders you'll ever see in your life.
There is a respectably-sized clowder living amongst the rocks at this peak, with a decent system of order: a King, Queen, Prince/Princess and Citizens. There are flaws in this system (they have no organized fighting force nor any sort of healer teachings... or effective teaching system at all; it's all very traditionalist), but they manage along fairly well, anyway.
If you must intrude on their turf, hide beneath the thick foliage along the ground, because the members of the clowder use the rocks to scout for intruders... and they're plenty vicious, quickly gaining the knowledge of how to maneuver along the rocks with speed and deadliness.
Rattlesnakes are a threat.
